Parenting can be tough! I’m sure as you read those words you feel like you have received one of the greatest revelation of your life. Before having children I felt like I had great wisdom in raising children and possessed all the wonderful answers to impart unto all those that had them. Now reality has settled in and the reality is I NEED GOD TO HELP ME DO THIS JOB!
Now with this being said, I feel like that my children have taught me much more about life than I knew before I had them and for this I’m forever grateful.
My youngest had just finished playing a little league baseball game and we were traveling back to the house. To appreciate this story you must understand that my youngest son is a man of few words and might I add, that he gets this honestly. When you ask him a question you usually get one or two word answers. So as we’re driving home neither one of us are saying much, maybe just doing a little reflecting on all the missed balls and swings. Then he decides to take me to school and deliver a very profound lesson, as he breaks the silence with, “Dad, thank you for cheering me on.”
Now my response to this was simply, “Harrison, I have no greater joy in life, than cheering you on.”
Life just goes better when we have someone in our corner. Parenting, marriage, pastoring, teaching, and working, all these things just seem to work better when we have somebody cheering us on.
I’m reminded of Peter in the Bible when the Lord told him that satan had desired to sift him as wheat, but the Lord said, “Peter, I have prayed for you.” So if your feeling in need of a little encouraging today, I can’t think of one better to be standing in your corner.
